Dravid --Mr.Dependent

Hi guys bear with me for this is my first Blog

Rahul Dravid wont bring a song to a spectators heart. He can even be sometimes tedious to watch. But he is the kind, whose presence every team is grateful for, in hours of crisis. The true indications of Dravid's greatness come when batting is more than driving on the up, when the ball curls in the air and fizzes off the pitch, and when survival becomes an end in itself. To India's enormous fortune, just about every time a situation has called for a batsman to stand up and be counted, Dravid has been there, almost always. He is a cricketer who seamlessly blends an old-world classicism with a new-age professionalism

Dravid had a disappointing start to his career making his debut in ODI against the Lankans.Later he was dropped from the team until he was picked again for the tour of England when manjerakar was injured. He went on to score a classic 95 under some tough conditions.but this was overcomed by a ton from ganguly.Common this was one of the biggest problems faced by dravid.Everytime he plays a big innings it would have been overshadowed by someone else. This is why i cal him very unlucky.

Dravid's golden phase began, arguably, in Kolkata 2001, with a supporting act, when he made 180 to supplement VVS Laxman's classic effort of 281 against Australia. But from then on, Dravid became India's most valuable player, saving them Tests at Port Elizabeth, Georgetown and Trent Bridge, winning them Tests at Headlingley, Adelaide, Kandy and Rawalpindi. At one point during this run, he carved up four centuries in successive innings, and hit four double-centuries in the space of 15 Tests, including in historic away-wins at Adelaide and Rawalpindi. As India finished off the 2004 Pakistan tour on a winning note, on the back of Dravid's epic 270, his average crept past Sachin Tendulkar's - and it seemed no aberration. He is one of the very few batsmen in the indian cricket team to play the pull shot with perfection and also his
classical drives are the perfect example for the youngsters.

Dravid got the nickname 'The Wall' because of his impregnable defence and unflappable temperament, it would be wrong though to think of Rahul Dravid as solely a defensive-minded
batsman.Dravid got the nickname 'The Wall' after his Reebok Advertisement
quoting him by the same name

Dravid had a good 2 series @ home after he accepted captaincy thrashing england and srilanka. But later he was most embrassed by indias first round exit from worldcup under his leadership. He bounced back strongly winning test series @ england and also levelling series @ SA.After the england ODI series Dravid shocked everyone resigning his captaincy.some say he was forced to , but it still remains a mystery.

Some say Dravid is not aggressive,to them Dravid responded as :

"I don't show my emotions that well. I have always been like that; but it has brought me success. For me aggression is not show of emotion. It never has been. For me aggression is performance at the end of the day. You can show as much emotion as you want on the field but at the end of the day what counts is how you have performed. That's anyway not my personality. If you look at my idols, a Sampras, a Federer, a Tiger Woods, you will see they don't show much emotion either. At least not on the field. But you don't call them non-aggressive; they are not less tough than any. In fact, they are the toughest, the greatest sport has ever seen. And that for me is important. Even in cricket if you look at someone I've admired, someone like a Steve Waugh, he never showed much emotion on the field either. But he was as tough as they came"
Right now Dravid is going through a very bad patch.Am sure that he would bounce back soon.
Guys wait for this australian tour, the WALL wouls stand up again much stronger.Common dravid u can do it... we are all waiting for u to plunder the aussies
