Deception Point Novel review

Deception Point," Dan Brown's novel, is about the political
consequences of a NASA claim to have discovered a historic
meteorite embedded in ice for more than three centuries. It
has so many twists and turns, is packed with fast moving plots,
visual descriptions and ofcourse tidbits of romance.Brown's
description about the people, locations, machineries etc are
just perfect. This is the fourth Dan brown novel am reading
after DaVinci code,A&D and Digital Fortress

Deception Point is a story of a senator’s daughter who gets
trapped in a complete mess which also includes the most
powerful men in the world "the President of the US", "Head
of the NASA","The head of NRO".The story revolves around
the political individuals driven by a unstoppable ambition
to grab the Presidential seat of government.

It proceeds with the same exciting, stunning fact-filled
writing like all other Dan brown's.It is a page-turner,
fast-moving and entertaining. Now, the real fun is trying
to figure out who is the prey and who is the mastermind!
Actually I didn’t get it right and I am sure even you
wont get it either. Trust me, it is an absolute cracker.
One more advantage of this book is there are not too
many parallel plots which keeps u stuck to the main plot.
Though in this novel i found it hard to believe that the
President of only super power country, who is aware of
all the things happening around the world does not know
what happens under his nose.

The main plot deals with power, authority, and obviously
well-developed deception. It is a gripping thriller and
adrenalin pumping read that I recommend you.

LTTE Srilankan Issue as i see

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam as they are popularly called
as LTTE founded by Velupillai Prabhakar, is a tamil rebels
organisation that was mainly started coz of the discrimination
of sinhalese dominated srilankan government against minority
tamil community.when the LTTE became influential militarily,
they developed greed assuming that they have established Tamil
Eelam in the North and East of Sri Lanka. After acheiving this
they shud have challenged Sri Lankan government thru politics
too . But they never showed interest in political front nd
they were mislead by their Single dominant leader. His arrogance
has cost lives of lakhs of people. Of course India too has to
share the blame by supporting them initially. We paid the price
by loosing Rajiv. This civil war btwn sinhalese govn and ltte
is goin on for the last 30 years.

Recently there is an intense war goin with the srilankan govt
taking a vow to completely eliminate LTTE from their soil.
Numerous human lifes has gone down.

Srilankan Governtments Point of view:

War is something which LTTE forced the Sri Lankan government
to take that extreme step and was unavoidable. They point out
that the LTTE has assassinated more Tamil leaders than the
SriLankan army has, leaders such as Amrithalingam, Yogeswaran,
Neelam Tiruchelvam, and even militants such as Sri Sabaratnam.
Srilankan Govt says it is the failure of the Tamil leadership
to allow the likes of Prabhakaran to get away with murder and
mayhem.LTTE forcibly kept civilians and innocent in the war
area using them as humanshields forcibly and shoot them if
they tried to escape.LTTE deliberately placed its heavy weaponry
close to civilian installations and fired at government forces.
Young boys and girls, children of poor parents are forcibly
recruited by the LTTE and sent to the battle front without much
trainings. The LTTE suicide bombers have been killing a lot of
innocent people almost on a regular basis.

LTTE's point of view:

LTTE believes sternly that the Sri Lankan government will only
be happy when every last Tamilian have been killed by the force of
violence.LTTE accuses the Sri Lankan government unilaterally
withdrew from the Norwegian-brokered ceasefire a year go which
provoked the current war.The lives of hundreds of hostages
(including children) were sacrificed in the process of killing the
so called terrorists.LTTE complain the innocent people are being
bombarded with heavy artillery by government forces, coz of
which there are huge casualties and the most of these traumatised
people have been jailed in camps where they are separated from
loved ones, facilities are minimal, and allegations that women
have been raped and killed

Indian Governments stand:

Indian govt says The Sri Lankan Tamil Issue is an internal issue
of Sri Lanka. But the TN politicians are playing a cheap voting
games to try to earn popularity in TN and the latest is fasting
to death. But on the real no steps are been taken and they dont
fucking care abt the people dying there and all they want is
cheap publicity.

The Harsh Truth :

But the real truth that no one can deny is thousands of
innocent people are being killed every day in the murderous
conflict between LTTE and Sri Lnakan government. Both Srilankan
govt and LTTE are killer forces that do not give a damn to
death of innocents. What sin the srilankan people especially
the tamilians there have committed to experience this agony
all these years, and how long do they need to go thru this?If
they are in the war zone they get bombarded by the army. If
they are wounded and go to hospital they get bombed. If they
somehow manage to escape they would end up in the Nazi like
detention camps. Civilians are suffering injuries and dying
because both the Tigers and the government troops are violating
international humanitarian law

The war’s sheer brutality has created new realities.Tamils all
over the world are boiling in anger.they seem to seem to surpass
the Muslim anger over the dragging middle-east wars.

I also feel that this war would not be the end of the Tamil
struggle for independence.Clearly, it marks the beginning of
the Tamil Era which is in the making, and the signs are that
the next chapter is going to be even more destructive than the
LTTE.If the Srilankan Governments target was to save the
country from splitting into two, this war has sown seeds to
bring the exact opposite result.

I personally feel that by supporting the LTTE’s cause we don’t
do anything for ourselves not do we do anything for the misplaced
Tamils. They still live in refugee camps and are no better than
our own poor whereas the top LTTE leaders are still living a
cosy life somewhere in canada or else where.

Am left out being helpless all i can do is pray to the almighty.
Hope he brings a positive change sooner

Missing ur friends Just hear it

Mansellam unnidam koduthen, this song is from the movie Kulir
sung by SIMBU.Music is composed by Bobo Sashi. This song is
melodic and blended with some nice Rap.

I listened to this song after my friend suggested it.I loved
it instantly. This song is about friends and the pain of missing
them in life.
the lyrics of the song goes as so

Hey yo this song is dedicated to everyone, who miss their friend,
this is how it feels...

its been while last since we met
cant forget what happened until the last breath
i regret my actions what we did the last thing
hey no joke man my heart comes fresh

so coming back....

i'm walking down.........so all coming back
dont ever forget me man thats all i ask
you gotta control my thoughts and emotion
wats the real thoughts but it back in motion

i dont know, the word friend had an END.

Thousand Splendid Suns Book review

Thousand Splendid Suns is second Novel for Khaled Hosseini after
Kite Runner.“The Kite Runner” focused on fathers and sons, and
friendships between men, his latest novel, “A Thousand Splendid
Suns,” focuses on mothers and daughters, and friendships
between women.Like Kite Runner this novel also deals with diff
generations of Afghanistan right from its once-rich past which starts
disintegrating rapidly as the rule of power moves from the Soviets
to the Mujahideen, the Taliban and finally the US-backed government
with Hamid Karzai.

Thousand Splendid suns is the story of two strong women, Mariam
and Laila, born about nineteen years apart, and the strange love
they come to share after being thrown together under complicated circumstances.Mariam, uneducated illegitimate girl coming from a
rural Herat and Laila city born educated girl from Kabul both
meet each other and their stories converge when they married
Rasheed at their respective teenage.the transition in the
relationship between Mariam and Laila was pictured superbly. Its
about love, hope, the unexpected inner strength and bonding
between two women who, though not related byblood, are intimately
related by circumstances.

I loved these lines in the book

“Like a compass needle that always points north, a man’s accusing finger always finds a woman. You remember that Mariam jo.”

(This would be said by Nana Mariam's mother to her)

"she was leaving the world as a woman who had loved and been loved back. She was leaving it as a friend, a companion, a guardian. A mother. A person of consequence at last."
This is about Mariam before she is beaten to death

On the whole i felt it is an Ok sort of book,Can read it once. This
story is not written with such deliberate detail as The Kite Runner.
I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to read a
touching novel and is willing to be moved to cry :).

Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerTimeoutException .Net error work around

Last week I had a problem when I tried to use advance smart search panel in my

code. I got this error: "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerTimeoutException.

The server request timed out" from the Ajax Extension framework. Its occurred

because the smart search took a little longer time (something like 2 minutes) and

the Ajax Extension Callback framework had a timeout.

How to solve this problem?
To solve this problem we can increase the timeout. You can change the timeout

time by adding a new property to the script manager control. This property is

called AsyncPostBackTimeOut and it can help us to define the number of

seconds before the request will throw a request timeout exception*.

For example if you want that the timeout will take maximum 10 minutes your

code should be look like this:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"

AsyncPostBackTimeOut="600" >

asp:ScriptManager>

* The default value of the AsyncPostBackTimeOut property is 90 seconds.

Digital Fortress - Dan Brown Book Review

Digital fortressis cyber-thriller novel by Dan brown. This is the 3rd
novel of Dan Brown am reading after "Da vinci Code" and "Angels
and Demons"."Digital Fortress" doesn't look to have the edge or
the constant action found in "The DaVinci Code" or even "Angels
& Demons." But overall its a good fast paced adventurous novel.

This thriller revolves around the quest for an unbreakable encryption
algorithm's passkey and the extent to which people would go to in
order to acquire it.This unbreakable encryption algorithm called as
Digital Fortress was written by ex-NSA cryptographer Ensei Tankado
who had blackmailed to make it available for public use if the NSA
didn't make TRANSLTR's(incredible code-breaking machine which
can even turn the best computer encryption software useless)
existence known to the general public. The plot takes a twist when
Ensei the only person who knew the Pass-key to break digital
fortress died .

Only the end of the novel let me down.It was like watching some
Hollywood action movie's climax, it was too artificial.

I found the book fast-paced and engaging. If you like cyber-thrillers
I highly recommend you pick this book up and read it.

Angaadi Theru Aval Apdi Ondrum Song Lyrics

Started hearing this new album Angaadi Theru by GV.Prakash/VJ Antony.
The movie is directed by Vasantha Balan of Veyyil fame.Out of this album
this one song Aval Appadi Ondrum impressed me a lot.Lyrics was penned
by Na. Muthukumar Song opens with a beautiful Keyboard and Flute music.
That sets the tone for this soothing song.It has cheesy lyrics with some
classical tune and backgrounds which are very different and at the same
time its very simple.I am sure this song is sure to make adolescent men go
crazy.

The R word is ruling(ruining) everywhere(everyone)

R word -- Recession. This word is been uttered almost everywhere.
Whatever happens around u am sure at the end of day it will be hookep
up to this word.

These are some of the ways the recession has affected me I keep hearing
from my company how they're cutting back
on payments, I'm hearing rumors
of people getting cut, etc.
It's already affected me pay wise(Both hike and
bonus has
been freezed till Mar-10) and I'm just hoping that I won't get cut
all together. For now, I still have my job and I'm
grateful.

I wanted to go back to B school but I am going to have to put that off for a
little longer.
Most of my savings which i had invested in sharemarkets have
become a petty amount.Inspite of this i still invested
more this year
considering market would recover and it
would nullify my previous years
losses.(FACT everytime
i started investing in the markets considering it
has
reached its bottom, it managed to go even less & hope its not the
same this time around.)

The only positive thing i noticed coz of recession is People eat more
healthy foods in recession, drive less either as an
economy measure
or because they are no longer commuting
to their jobs.

What did this Recession teach us ?

The "ant principle" i.e If we worked hard and right during the "great" days,
we should have stored our goods for the winter
(hard times). If we fail to
plan, we plan to fail. I would think
that every generation goes through a
financial crisis. The key
of living through this is planning and preparing for
them.

When i was writing this post i got a joke based on this recession.
Though its funny it could happen to u. It can happen!*

XYZ Office * A fire alarm rang at 6 PM when almost all shift employees
are in office(approx 5000). As usual entire office was evacuated within 3
mins & every employee gathered outside
office. 10 mins passed............
5 more mins passed.
Security Officer - Announcement started, "Dear
Employees -
With melting heart I am making this announcement that for
many of you it will be a last evacuation drill, as we are laying off almost 80%
employee. While moving in whoever's ID card
won't work are laid off & all
their belongings will be couriered
to them tomorrow. We followed this
approach as we don't want
to fill email box size with layoff mail in thousands
& also to
avoid any fight inside office". Hope you have Nice career ahead.
Please move in & try your luck.

I guess in the last 2 - 3 weeks the global economy shows sign of recovery.
Whether its a complete recovery or just a spike in the downward moving
economy lets wait n c.

"Next" novel Review

I just completed Michael Crichton's novel, NEXT, which deals
with the business behind genetic engineering.Next has plenty
of inputs on the moral and financial implications of human
genetic engineering, but none of them add up to a meaningfull
and involving story. The chapters are short , some moments
even thrilling, but it’s hard to predict where the story is going.

The main plot of the story revolves around the patenting of
genes, and how that is at contraty with regular patent law.
How can you patent something that already exists in nature?
This practice leads to companies controlling entire lines of
research as they will sue if anyone attempts to touch their
genetic "property rights".

The narrative is difficult considering that Next almost never
stops bringing new characters, till the end of the novel
barring last few chapters. At some point of the plot there
were two kids with the same name and it confused me
pretty much whom he is referring to.There is no main
character which makes the plot less interesting. The very
short chapters have you moving from story to story
without making much advancements on each, and some
story lines aren't re-visited for quite a while, leading to
more than a few 'who is this character again?' moments
makes it very irritating . If you're going to read it, it's
best to do so in as much less sittings as possible.

The climax of the story, if you can call it that, is when a
few of the characters come together as the "chase" plot
is over. But after it was all over, I was left with a feeling
of "What the F***, that's it?".

The positive aspect with this novel is that its a well
researched one and very informative as with all
Michael Crichton novels. The internal mechanisms
of the pharmaceutical,biotech,legal, marketing and
genetic labs are explored in great detail.

Overall, i would rate this novel as one of Crichton's worst
works.
